Act I
Scene 1
January 18th, 2038
Fyro is in his lab looking at the periodic table.
Fyro: Oh, the periodic table. So beautiful. So… mesmerizing. 118 elements, each with their own properties, organized into seven rows. Wait! What if I could get all 118 elements in my lab at once? That sounds fun. Wait, I NEED to do this! And I’ll call it… PROJECT 118! But wait, some of them are very radioactive, and they decay in seconds. But I’ve never been one for safety standards. Why am I worrying about that? I’m going to do Project 118 no matter what. Let’s get started!
Fyro starts working on the earlier elements. Someone walks in.
Assistant: Hey there, Doctor Fyro! What's going on here?
Fyro: I’m making all 118 elements on the periodic table in my lab.
Assistant: That’s… ambitious… and it sounds pretty dangerous.
Fyro: Well … I’ll find a way to do it. But for now, these are safe.
Assistant: Is it okay if I tell some people about this? It sounds really cool.
Fyro: Yeah… maybe just don’t tell the entire building. I want to have a showcase later!
Assistant: Oh, fun!
Scene 2
Fyro is on his lunch break, scrolling.
Fyro: Hey! Doctor Viro? He’s making a social media video about making all the elements in his lab? He’s stealing my idea! This looks even more dangerous than what I’m doing. He’s synthesizing radioactive elements!
Fyro calls Viro.
Fyro: Hey Doctor Viro, why are you stealing my idea of collecting 118 elements? I never permitted you to do this!
Viro: What are you going to do about it? Why don’t you try to make elements faster than me instead of complaining about it?
Fyro: Alright then, you wanna play like that? Prepare to be defeated.
Viro: Let’s schedule a show at the Lab Theatre where the winner will show their achievement. February 18, 2038, at 1:18 PM.
Fyro: Alright, you’re on. May the best scientist win the race.
Scene 3
A few weeks later, after a montage of them making elements
Fyro: Well… I finished the first 59 elements, halfway!
Viro: Oh… I also finished 59 elements, but they were the last 59 elements; that’s harder than yours!
Fyro: That is impressive. I didn’t think you would match me, but let’s look at the date, February 17th?!
Viro: Alright, well that took way longer than expected. There’s no way one of us will make all 118 by tomorrow.
Fyro: Well, I guess we cancel or reschedule the event then?
Viro: NO. I already told a bunch of people on social media about this and signed off on the event. How about we just mix each other’s mixtures together?
Fyro: Wait! That sounds dangerous. Are you sure about that?
Viro: Yes! In fact, I’m used to danger! The event is tomorrow and I’m NOT rescheduling it. People are waiting for this. Are you coming with me?
Fyro: *sigh* Alright, fine… Just be careful.
Viro: Thank you.
Scene 4
The day of the event
Viro: Ladies and gentleman, we present to you… Project 118. *applause* As you can see, we have 59 elements in Doctor Fyro’s bowl, and the other 59 in mine…
Fyro: Doctor Viro! Your mixture is bubbling!
Viro: Don’t mind him, I’m just going to pour my mixture into his beaker…
Fyro: Stop! I’m seeing green mist. This is dangerous.
Viro: Shhh! You’re ruining the event! Alright and here we go!
Viro pours the radioactive mixture into Fyro’s beaker and it creates a reaction.
Fyro: Doctor Viro! It’s growing! RUN!!!
*EXPLOSION*
Doctor Fyro and Viro are knocked out cold. Robots rush to the scene.
Scene 5
Soon after
Viro: Ah… well… it looks like I’m the first one awake. There’s a ton of robots here… let me get up…
Fyro: WHAT WERE YOU THINKING? Now we’re in massive trouble.
Viro: Oh no, we’re actually going to get arrested by these robots! Ah… See ya!
Viro grabs the mixture and runs away.
Robot: Hey! Get back here!
Fyro: Wait, you’re just gonna leave me here? I thought we were doing this together!
Robot: Hands behind your back!
Fyro: But wait! I’m innocent! I didn’t…
Robot: We’ll research it later. For now, you’re going to maximum security prison for this danger to public safety and abuse of your scientist license.
Fyro: Doctor Viro, you will NOT get away with this.
Intermission
Act II
Scene 6
10 years later
Fyro is in his prison cell.
Assistant: Hey.
Fyro: *sigh* what?
Assistant: Your sentence is up, you can go now.
Fyro: Really?
Assistant: Yeah, we reduced your sentence since you did not create the radioactive chemicals that actually caused the explosion.
Fyro: Thank you. So what’s going on with that idiot Doctor Viro?
Assistant: He’s a fugitive now. His mixture has reportedly turned his skin green and everywhere he goes, damage follows.
Fyro: Wow, he really is insane.
Assistant: We’ve sent thousands of robots to find him, get the now mostly decayed radioactive mixture back, and throw him in jail for 118 years.
Fyro: Is it working?
Assistant: Well, they think they’ve located him in a cave far away from here, but they just can’t seem to find him.
Fyro: Well, if I could be of any assistance…
Assistant: Wait! If you are willing to help, then we can actually do this. Because you know Doctor Viro and his patterns. But I know he was your friend, and I don’t want to…
Fyro: Not anymore. I’m looking to get revenge, and do whatever it takes. Like I said, he will NOT get away with making me spend 10 years in jail.
Assistant: Alright, thanks! It’ll be a long journey to his cave…
Scene 7
Montage of them travelling down to the cave
Robots: So this is it!
Fyro: Woah… this looks so alien yet oddly familiar…
Robots: We’ve been searching for years to find him. But, Doctor Fyro, you know Doctor Viro’s patterns. Now where do you think he would be hiding?
Fyro: I don’t know… I’m sorry.
Robots: Think way back!
Fyro: Hmm… Wait! It just hit me.
Scene 8
Flashback to before Project 118
Fyro: Hey, Doctor Viro, this project involves some pretty dangerous chemicals, where should we do it?
Viro: Wait, maybe, like, 118 meters deep. No one will find us then!
Fyro: How on earth would we get down there?
Viro: Maybe I’ll build a drilling technology. I’ll be back in a moment.
Fyro: Okay…
Later
Viro: Take a look at this!
Fyro: Woah, that’s actually sick!
Viro: Let’s dig down 118 meters!
End of flashback
Fyro: Let’s dig down 118 meters.
Robots: It’s too hard to get down there!
Fyro: Luckily, I happened to bring Doctor Viro’s secret drilling tool.
Robots: Woah, Thanks! You should be the captain of our mission!
Fyro: Hey, whatever it takes to get revenge. Let’s get digging!
Short Montage: Fyro and the robots dig for a while.
Scene 9
Deep inside the cave
Viro: Ah, the food supply here is about to run out. I guess I gotta take a risk and go out soon… WAIT! WHAT IS THAT SOUND? No, NO! Let me enter my secret room now. Let me grab some weapons here. This is life or death!
Fyro: Hmm… he’s not here…
Robots: Was that all for nothing?
Fyro: No… maybe… he’s in a secret room here. That’s exactly what he’d do! Prepare to defend against anything!
Robots: Yes, Sir!
They open the door and are immediately met with secret weapons from Viro. Fyro and the robots cock their rifles, defending every bullet.
Fyro: Stop right there! Doctor Viro, you have been sentenced to 118 years in prison. Hand us the mixture now!
Viro: No!
Fyro: Everyone attack!
Fyro and the robots overpower Doctor Viro.
Fyro: This is your last chance to give us the mixture or you will be sentenced to death!
Viro: NO!
Doctor Viro throws the mixture in terror at one of the robots. It starts malfunctioning.
Fyro: It’s the radioactive mixture! It’s destroying everything it touches! Everyone, enclose the room in right now!
They forcefully put up the wall to stop the mixture from spreading.
Viro: AHHH!!!!
Doctor Viro evaporates into chemical ashes.
Fyro: Well, that was a close one, but it looks like he’s dead. Let’s get out of here right away before the radiation level gets too dangerous.
Scene 10
10 years later, in a museum
Fyro: Oh, the power of modern technology! We were able to safely transport Doctor Viro’s chemical ashes into this museum. This story reminds us of the importance of safety in the lab. You don’t want to end up like this guy. Even I have learned so much from this and now always follow safety precautions in the lab, and it’s been a pleasure to share this story with you today. Ladies and gentleman, this has been the story of Project 118! *applause*
The end.
